Turns out when you glue Japanese hand-made papers, they become quite transparent, allowing you to glue layers together to create different shades. For some things it can make for very interesting colors and textures, like turtle shells. For other things, it can make it really hard to work with. Overall, I think it's a decent likeness of this radiant resident of the virgin islands.
